There was the field camp two weeks back, where we all rolled around in mud and soil, where we learnt a few different drills and skills.

Then there was the 12 kilometre route march from Sembawang Camp to the Kranji War Memorial on the 22nd of May, where the 31st Batch of Naval Diver Trainees had their BMT (Basic Military Training) Passing Out Ceremony.

I believe that for most of us, the ceremony wasn't just about receiving our berets and going for our one week block leave. It was an affirmation of our determination and resolve to take our first step towards being a combat diver. It was a concrete sign which pointed us towards a new direction, one which we never thought we would embark on.

And I'm really glad to have made some dependable and trustworthy friends in these 10 weeks. The best (and maybe worst) thing is that these friends won't just disappear because we'll still be stuck in Sembawang Camp for some time to come...
